A modern York stone house
A replica of a relatively modern house built in York stone. This is a large model, built to a scale of 1/12 and measuring approximately 60" (150 cm) square across the base. This presented its own particular problems as the model had to be transported a considerable distance and had to be capable of passing through a normal-sized doorway. The solution was a 4-piece model, consisting of the main house, the single-storey extension, the sun-lounge and the raised base. The baseboard itself could be folded in two. Full electrical installation was provided, with the controls concealed in the small coal-store at the rear.
In this case, the interior was left undecorated as the customer wanted to carry out all this work themselves. Access to the interior is through a hinged roof, opening front and rear to the main house, a hinged roof to the single-storey section (hinged above the two end windows) and a removable roof to the sun-lounge. Additional storage is provided in the raised base.
